Microneedling to treat scars, enlarged pores, saggy skin, and sun damage
At Medical Esthetique Med Spa, we’re big fans of microneedling because it’s such a great treatment for skin texture issues, deep acne scarring, dull skin, enlarged pores, and skin laxity —the kind that leads to wrinkles, skin folds, and sagging skin.
Microneedling is a skin treatment that stimulates collagen production and the renewal of healthy skin cells to improve skin laxity, skin tone, and skin texture.
Microneedling improves your overall look and appearance, brightening the skin, erasing years of skin damage.
How do you know if Laser Resurfacing is right for you?
Wrinkles and sagging skin are a natural part of aging. And while we can’t and shouldn’t turn back time, what we can do is reset our skin through facial rejuvenation treatments like microneedling.
Microneedling tightens skin —softening fine lines and wrinkles, making acne scars and stretch marks less noticeable, and reverses the damage from sun exposure. Microneedling works on many areas of the body, not just the face.
Microneedling treats:

What makes microneedling a popular treatment?
Microneedling works by improving collagen production, helping the skin maintain elasticity and firmness.
As we age, our bodies naturally produce less collagen. The slow-down in collagen production causes the skin to lose elasticity, contributing to wrinkles, enlarged pores, dry skin, and other signs of aging.

What type of results you can expect with microneedling
Some people notice the effects after only one treatment, but for most, we recommend returning for microneedling treatments once a week for three weeks, then bi-weekly after that. Once you achieve your desired results, it’s best to maintain your skin with microneedling every 6 months and keep healthy skincare habits at home.
Our providers will gladly share best practices and skincare suggestions when they meet with you.

What is microneedling?
Microneedling is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment where tiny needles roll across the skin, causing pinpricks that stimulate the skin’s natural healing process. The small holes provide a channel for hyaluronic acid gel to penetrate the skin layer deeper than it would if applied directly on the skin’s surface.
New collagen-rich tissue, blood vessels, and natural growth factors are produced as the body naturally heals, resulting in tighter, smoother, and more youthful skin.
Microneedling with PRP
Microneedling with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a popular treatment that enhances the results by using your body’s blood plasma to stimulate collagen production and skin cell repair. PRP is a procedure widely used for healing other areas of the body, including hair stimulation and regrowth.
How microneedling with PRP works and what to expect
Platelets in blood plasma contain healing properties and growth factors. They can trigger cell reproduction and tissue healing. We draw a small amount of blood from your arm and use a centrifuge to separate out parts of the blood for use during the microneedling procedure.
The platelet-rich plasma is dripped onto your skin as the microneedling device works it into the layers of your skin.
How to Prepare for Microneedling
- Be sure all acne has healed before treating acne scarring with microneedling
- Stay out of the sun at least 7 days before your microneedling treatment
- If you’re someone who suffers from cold sores, avoid microneedling during a breakout
After-care for Microneedling
- You can return to work and normal activities directly after microneedling
- After your microneedling treatment, your skin may be a little red, puffy, or irritated. This is normal and usually resolves within about 48-72 hours
- Refrain from wearing makeup for at least 24 hours and only use gentle cleansers and moisturizers
- Avoid any sun exposure
Microneedling and Dysport, Botox, or Fillers
Microneedling pairs well with injectables like Botox, Dysport, and dermal fillers like Restylane and Juvederm. Microneedling is different from fillers in that the restoration of healthy skin results from skin repair and collagen production. Dermal fillers work by adding hyaluronic acid-based gel (also naturally produced by our bodies) underneath the skin to restore the face, hands, and neck where volume loss and creases have set in.
